“Blackbird singing in the dead of night” –Paul McCartney

We hear this song so often played that I think we all kind of just sit passively to listen to it and think to ourselves, “Oh this song is pretty. It’s by the Beatles? Hey I know a Beatles song!” A girl might listen to it and think, “Oh that song sounds like it should be my first song to play on a guitar! It’s light, pretty…melody’s easy. Not too fancy…”

People forget to think of why this song was written.

I’m gonna be cryptic. All I’m gonna say is mark your calendars for January 18, 2010.

Lyrics were written by Paul McCartney. I figured everyone has come across this song to know how it sounds so I decided to put a really old clip of Sir McCartney working it on the acoustics. I didn’t know he was a left-hand guitarist.
