“And if it gets too late for me to wait…for you to find you love me and tell me so–It’s ok, dont need to say it” –Fiona Apple

I don’t think I’ve ever written about Fiona Apple in this website. I found myself listening to her tonight. Guess I should since I’ve been a fan for a while. What is it about this song? It’s as if every other line has its own melody/phrasing but it all works as one, honeyed-up sound.

This is the ultimate love song about loving completely to the point that you’re a doormat.

My favorite part is when she enunciates the “ou” in “around” because the sound takes the shape of the word. Drawing out the word “patient” right after is also a meaningful choice:

Baby-I can’t help you out, while she’s still around
So for the time being, I’m being patient
